I did think it slightly myself, however I don't feel that in this instance it really detracts much from the photo at all

I did however have a bit of a play, because I do love this shot, Phil - as you have your edits box ticked, I'm putting it on here - if you want me to take it off, do say! I basically just gave it a bit of a lift I think!

It's good that you mentioned it being under exposed.

For 'still' dogs with my long lens I shoot in AV mode and from experience (in camera) I just very quickly under expose a touch for Skye and Fingal's white - and very quickly over expose a touch for Breagh who is all black.

My screen is also very bright and I've been told a few times that the pics look a tad dark.
