Re: River Tay in winter

If you click the image code in the wee box on photobucket once you are finished editing and resizing it copies the actual pic and not just the link.. that might help you out.

Love the River tay...especially at kenmore.

Nice pic..not many salmon leaping in that weather eh?

An interesting first photo Steve. The gang will get you used to posting in no time. Keep trying & thanks for breaking the ice with your first post. <That was a poor attempt at Bob humor.>

Re: River Tay in winter

Yorkiscot, welcome to the forum. You are definately doing the right thing to ask for constructive critique on your pictures. Other people spot things you may not, offer endorsement of your good work, and offer helpful advice. The biggest critic should of course be yourself.

I'm not a landscape photographer as such, but I guess we all are at some point or other. Typically landscape shots tend to have front to back sharpness created by small apertures and the use of a tripod. I'm thinking that the shot needs to be sharper. I'd also be tempted to crop, about 10% of the left side, and about 15% along the bottom. Shooting in raw could also allow you to bring up some of the lost colours and detail in the middle of the picture. It all sounds a bit harsh, but I'm sure it will help you bring on your photography. There are some great examples of landscape work in Scotland by looking at the posts of Dejavu and Phil (apologies to other people if you have been missed). i hope that helps, tell me to sod off if you wish.
