That's okay, it is a different situation than the UK



Bob- In the UK the Grey was introduced and has driven the Native Red Squirrel to small numbers,as it is much bigger, and aggressive, plus diseases, and has decimated the population in a huge amount of the UK. You have to travel far up North to see them now
When I was a kid you could see them in the woods in the South of England, sadly no more

It is a sad situation, that any animal has to be culled, but I would not want the Red Squirrel to become extinct.

I know my Dad is the same as Dawn, and considers himself a person who is conserving the British countryside. The UK is such a small Island that when new species are introduced it does throw the whole eco system to pot. There are now Chipmunks living in the UK, that pet owners and zoo escapees have let loose are causing the same problems. Minks, Parakeets, I think in Norfolk there are even Capybara! living on the Fens.

Like I said, it is a difficult and sad situation. With no easy, nice remedy.

I was maybe a bit harsh with Bob, for that I apologise, but you are right MS the situation is so much different here, if I were there with you, Id probably be taking pictures of them too!

Dawn, the squirrels in Suzi's photos are in the United States.

Bob, I agree with you that I can't understand why people shoot them over here There is no reason in the States that I can see, I have come across Squirrel hunters in the woods and I don't understand why?

Different countries, and situations , but wherever they are, they are cute xxx

I know, but Im here watching them decimate the native red species!!! I said if "I" were there, which Im not.
