Re: Just to start off

Really like the first one, loads of character! I think the flash was a bit strong and harsh for the second one, but it's a lovely portrait, and if it had been in natural light without flash, then it would have been stunning! It is a bit of a shame about the background, perhaps even just cloning out the red blob in photoshop would help.

Re: Just to start off

I'll try to remember to tape some tissue paper over the flash next time Either that or get a decent flash gun.

Re: Just to start off

This is my issue! I never got around to buying a flash gun, so a lot of my photos come out with the same problem! Will get one one day - but I mainly use on camera flash for my rat photos - and that seems to work well. Having said that, I'm looking forward to geting a better flashgun, to see how much of a difference it makes to the rat photos!

Re: Just to start off

Hi Ant, and welcome to Yo!

That's a face and a half you've managed to capture in the first photo.
Is it in mid-yawn, or mid bark, lol

You said in your introductory thread that you weren't new to photography.
I was just wondering, how long have you been taking pictures?
