Tim Hetherington - War Photographer

Killed 20th April 2011 - I only really picked up on it reading the Sunday Times Magazine at the weekend.

This link will provide plenty of further links to his work......

Some amazing stuff and my hat goes off to the people that do this kind of work.

Very sad and like you, my hat goes off to people like this, they are the world's eyes when something is happening anywhere in the world.

Re: Tim Hetherington - War Photographer

Here's his short film 'Diary' (2010)

Kind of 'arty' at lasts about 20mins but an interesting watch.

He posted it 4 months ago and the comments obviously change in terms of the emphasis around the time of his death.

Re: Tim Hetherington - War Photographer

Thanks for that Phil, did provide some links a few weeks ago on another site when it happened. The work of the war zone photographers is a amazing... and social documentary photography is where it is at for me... I would really like to understand more about the detail of how these folks work. We all get so used to seeing high quality meaningful images these days and I'm sure many readers don't give a moments thought how they were obtained... not just in war zones, but even recording images of the disadvantaged, those subject to natural or man made disasters etc. My curiousity and respect about how these photographers (and videographers) work and the risky business they are in is at an all time high.

Re: Tim Hetherington - War Photographer

It's one of those jobs that takes a very special kind of person, me thinks.

Re: Tim Hetherington - War Photographer

Agree with all said. I could not do that job. Quite harrowing I would think. Tim was especially good at his job, and news of his death saddened me greatly.

Re: Tim Hetherington - War Photographer

very sad indeed
I also find it very weird that a country goes to war and the media are there waiting for the army

Thanks for the links Phil. I read the Times article, and thought how sad it was. Some great shots in that article too.
