Re: Need help in choosing a camera

i felt the Nikon D50 (sold now) and my new D80 could be dropped and chewed by the dogs... I wouldnt feel as confident about the canon, as it was a lot lighter... But i've never touched a d60 or d40, so don't know how they compare... I'm sure all will become clear once you have a go of both of them.

I read the 450D is NOT replacing the 400D. By all accounts it's an additional model pitched between the 400D and the 40D

The D50 is very solid as is the D80. These cameras were made before a massive boom in DSLR poularity, mass production and sales competition. Many people say the D40, D40x and D60 feel a lot less robust.
Kit 1
Canon 1D Mark 3

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM

Kit 2
1D2 & 40D

It's coming in at the 400D's price, and the 400D is taking the place of the 350. Least that's what I heard... ?

Re: Need help in choosing a camera

Phew at least a woman who has eventually made up her mind, a rare event indeed

Hope you enjoy the camera and don't forget to buy a memory card for it, there has been plenty of discussion on other threads about them.

Deciding on the camera is the easy bit, the lenses available for it is a minefield
