Isle of Harris

Just a few random shots from Harris.

Looking out along the coast from Hushinish towards Taransay

Gleann Mhiabhaig - A real hotspot for both Golden and White Tailed Eagles.
I'll be going back to the original shot and having another go as one of my adjustments has washed the sky out.

Loch Leosavay with Amhuinnsuidhe Castle just visible.

From a similar viewpoint to the first

Re: Isle of Harris

How long was the ferry trip Phil. We decided against going to Harris. Will be doing, Bute, Islay,Jura, Mull Arran and Skye and large chunks of the mainland.

Very much hoping to see and hopefully photograph a Sea Eagle.

Going over we went from Ullapool to Stornoway (Lewis) which was about three hours.

Coming back we went from Tarbert (Harris) to Uig (Skye) which was about a hour and forty minutes.

I was lucky enough to see a Sea Eagle every day from the deck of the cottage as it spent a lot of time perched on the headland just over the bay. I got quite a few photographs but they're all quite small in the frame.

Golden Eagles were much more numerous. Saw them pretty much every time we went out the door sometimes alone and sometimes in pairs. Again, lots of photographs but fairly distant.

I had one very low pass from a Golden Eagle whilst I was out on the deck having a brew. Probably no more that 20-30 yards away and low over the water too. It would have been the best chance for a decent shot but by the time I'd got my camera from inside it was up very high.
