Re: [Type of Camera]

Not sure but think that means a Point & Shot or Compact. Must say I am very pleased by my new Pentax P80 but in fairness I have not tried any of the comparable ones. Think go for one of the more popular brands and see which falls into your hand and eye naturally, some will fit you and some will feel awkward. Don't forget to leave enough cash to buy a bag, a card and a spare battery and if you need it a tripod.

Re: [Type of Camera]

$750 is approx £370 (ish) so that would buy a pretty decent p&s, or even a decent entry level DSLR, if it's the point and shoot, then I have a Canon Powershot A630, it may be one of the older models now, but it's a pretty decent camera, and the newer ones should be an improvement, although not always, if it's a DSLR then I'm more than happy with my Nikon D40, I can't comment on anything else, as I've no experience of them HTH

Re: [Type of Camera]

As a Point and Shoot my Panasonic is awesome,it's my second one, and the results are really good. I just wanted a SLR to learn more

Your pictures in your album are really good, and I think you would do really well with an SLR ,As CLMG said the entry level ones are the same price or even cheaper than the more expensive point and shoots. So I think you should go for a SLRIf you shop around on the internet yu can find great deals.

As you are in the US, they are probably cheaper tooI would recommend an Olympusas I love mine, but go to a good camera shop and pick all them up , Canons, Nikons, Sony's . Olys etc and go with which one feels good in your hand.

Have a look on here and other sites at who's pictures capture your eye,to give you some idea.

Re: [Type of Camera]

Ah now I would say go for a DSLR even at the cheaper end of a range. With point/shoot compacts thats what you get point and shoot. You are stuck with it. With a DSLR at least you can add to it, ie different lenses etc, and gives you move photographic scope later on without having to trade up.

Re: [Type of Camera]

Agree a DSLR would be more flexible but it does not stop there the cash available will need to stretch to a couple of lens as well, may be second-hand would be the way to go, lots of people trade in good not very old cameras when a new model comes out.
