Why go over to the dark side (Canon)? Nikon are well known to have far superior photographic cameras and lenses.

Re: Portrait lens?????

Hi Cliff, I always use "AI Servo" focus for all the motor sport photography. Your Sigma has ideal reach on your camera body for track side photography.

I used to use manual focus (that's all there was) when taking pictures of Barry Sheene and Ron Haslam, but that was a little while ago

Re: Portrait lens?????

everyone to there own really bazza, I started with canon then went to Nikon now back with canon, i'm not by any means a pro but i prefered canon, I also found unless you spend a fortune on a body most lens would not auto focus unlike the canon, just got a 500d which is quite entry level screwed on a sigma apo 400mm auto focused no problem, with nikon unless you buy the latest lens with motors or i think the d7000 has the motor in the body.

To be honest both systems are very capable, at the end of the day it's the person behind the camera that makes the biggest difference to what it produces.

Re: Portrait lens?????

It's where I got mine. Fulfilled by Amazon so you should have any problems should something go wrong.

If you look at the Nifty Fifties group on here you will see 4 pictures I've posted. You really wont be disappointed. http://www.yophotographer.com/group.php?groupid=15
