Request for members in Scotland

My son is doing some research (just looking up kind of stuff) on our Scotch ancestry...says there is a Crawford Castle there...probably pretty well gone now. Stones from it were used to build a house...Crawford Cottage...I have no idea where in Scotland but do any of you have such a place near by? If so, would you take a photo or two and send them to me to pass on to my son? It seems our Scotch family moved to Ireland then to Canada...the farthest back I have traced us is a Christina in 1765 in New York, got there from Canada...she had 9 kids! only one used the Crawford name...a James Crawford ( been a lot of James C in the family since!) Thanks for any effort you put to my request. Shirley

Re: Request for members in Scotland

There is a place called Crawford in South Lanarkshire quite near me. Not sure if it is the one you are looking for. Its probably too far to go and take some photos of but there are loads on google or even flickr.

SM

Scotch is an alcoholic drink, your son is looking up the Scottish ancestry.

Re: Request for members in Scotland

Thanks to all of you...I now know quite a bit more then before reading your replies...the links are good and some of the pictures are so nice I am going to snag them to a folder for Scottish notes...see I used Scottish, not Scotch! Daisy, just you saying "yes' there is a Crawford Castle here means that we really might belong to that family line.
I know nothing of the time when Crawford were in Ireland...maybe son will come up with more about them.
When I was researching, he was NOT interested...now he is...
Lost my notes with a computer crash...mother board went...had it backed up to a laptop but that got broken too...
Another relative has been tracing my paternal family for many years and I sent it all to him so he has it...think I will email him for a copy of the tree...he has over 6000 names on it!
I have many 100s of old photos...most with no identification on them but they are nice to look at... Shirley
