My Updated Website, Opinions

Hi everyone

I have deleted one of my websites and replaced it with a new, updated site.

There will be more than the one gallery soon and there will be a Paypal shopping cart attached to each gallery.

Before I went to far though, I thought I would ask for any opinions before spending more time on it.

Go on, hit me with your rhythm sticks

Cheers

Re: My Updated Website, Opinions

Great site very clear and easy to follow.

Now the bad stuff.......... my only criticism is that on the HOME page and the SERVICES pages the first two paragraphs are near identical and when reading the second one [services] I thought uh I have read this before.

It is not really a prob but maybe .................. oh don't know what..... I am rubbish at this ........

Hi Steve ,

The site looks clean and easy to navigate .

The pic on your home looks a nice clean image .I used to cover events along time ago now and print onsite . I have a couple of friends that shoot dogs , one of which is full time ... Nick Ridley .

Can I ask how you are going to attach paypal to the event folders , I used to make mine with breeze browser , but I can do it now I have a mac .

Good Luck

I use Lightroom TTG (The Turning Gate) engines & plugins for the site and one of the engines is TTG Cart which integrates with the gallery generator and provides shopping cart capabilities. Just getting head around it at the moment

So far I have only read the Homepage. Please accept this as positive criticism as I have only had a quick peek and overall first impressions are that the site looks professional and the photo great, but here goes.

This is what I would change.
You have:
Quote:
As a freelance photographer I have been taking photos of gundogs for many years. I cover many aspects of the gundog/shooting scene and rural pursuits. This includes coverage of shoot days, training days, commissions (individual & commercial) etc.

My prices are very competitive and tailored to your individual requirements which is why I do not have a fixed pricing structure as every enquiry is unique and I find it better to quote a price after a detailed talk with you about your requirements.

I have lived and worked with gundogs all my life and currently own an English Springer Spaniel and, for my sins, two working Clumber Spaniels. In the past I have had ESS, Cockers and Labs.

Please use the contact form on the Contact page if you wish to have further information on services offered.
I would put this:
As a freelance photographer and long time owner of gundog breeds, including Labrador Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels and Clumber Spaniels, I have been taking photos of both pet and working gundogs for many years. I cover most aspects of the gundog and rural pursuits interest within my work, including; shoot days, training days, individual and commercial commissions etc.

Due to every request being very individual to the client’s requirements, prices can only be given after a free, yet detailed consultation with you. This way prices stay very competitive and fair, whilst the service remains tailored to your needs.

If you would like any further information please feel free to get in touch using the form on the contacts page.

(you could maybe put a 'Regards, Steve' in a nice font?)

Re: My Updated Website, Opinions

OK, just read the Services page. As a potential customer, I would like to know what the service consists of. I already know that you know gundog breeds, have and do own them, are a freelance photographer, base your prices on the individual job/requirements/needs of the client, have a contacts form/page....and I know all that before I get to the Services page.

So talk me through, what is special about your service (what is unique anout YOUR service? perhaps you work your own dogs, perhaps you feel that you like to get the character of the dog across in photos, perhaps you pride yourself on that initial consultation allowing you to take the style of photo the client is after, perhaps its because you have a passion for both photography, dogs and the working gundog scene that you capture.... , tell me why it isn't daunting and why the photos you take will be the ones I want in my life.

Maybe you could just put something like: I offer a service where I can speak with you personally and meet at the event of your choice, nationwide if need be.

Then explain a bit about the after care/whole process. We know you do a consultation before hand, so tell us, will you show us some photos at the time, do you limit how many photos you will do/take/show, when you will contact them post-event, when/how you get the photos to them....how much care is taken in the delivery of those photos etc.
