Observation about Yophotographer

Having joined here almost when the site was set up by AZZ I can't help but notice the incredible difference in the standards of photographs posted. Yes originally they were good no doubt of it, but since then the quality -range -and subject matters has improved out of all recognition. Maybe its seeing other members work, or help and encouragement given I don't know. Possibly its the competitive nature in members to try just that little bit harder but the results definately show.

Some types of photography I am not keen on, as most long term members know, but it wouldn't do if everyone liked the same things. So what I would say is carry one being honest in any criticism and don't be afraid draw attention to a dislike. After all its a combination of likes and dislikes which makes a forum interesting.

Its tough for some new members comming into a forum where everyone knows everybody else, but unlike other sites, the members from what I have observed, don't look down on them but accept them as equals. Yes the photographic knowledge may not be there, but it takes time to learn and on here with members help the learning curve is a lot quicker.

Thanks for letting me stay as a member

Bazza

Re: Observation about Yophotographer

Thanks for the opinion Bazza.

I can't speak for everybody but from a personal point of view it's nice to hear that kind of feedback.

I appreciate that many of us are involved on other forums however I'd like to think that here at YoP we have small group of people that all contribute towards a warm friendly site that both encourages and inspires us to push on, share our images, learn new skills and ultimately improve our photography.

Re: Observation about Yophotographer

I'm new on here and so far I would say that this seems a very friendly forum. I suppose it's a little daunting joining a forum with a view to sharing photos when you know that all the others are so so much further on, but the fact that you get such a warm welcome here makes it a little less so.

Re: Observation about Yophotographer

I have not been a member for long, so i was upset by a comment by a member who took the time to have a go at a particular style of photography. did feel it was out of order as we all have subjects that appeal to us.

The same member had posted that they felt they were not part of regular comments by other members.

Photography is subjective, so if a subject is not to my taste i will not comment, but neither will i have a moan about it, i will however continue to encourage others as its a learning curve.

Re: Observation about Yophotographer

Before joining Yo I was a member of another forum. The togs were so..."up itty" and were not welcoming at all. I was intimated just reading let alone post anything. If you weren't as good or as high tecky or even down with the lingo you just didn't belong. They made that very clear to me. But I knew that it was important to get into a forum because of the knowledge capacity. I found Yo and I haven't gone anywhere since. I really do appreciate the honesty as well as the support. I don't always get the ideal response on a post but that's because it could use improvement. I want to be very good at what I enjoy most. I like the way this forum is put together and run. There is a lot of work that goes into it and I am thankful that someone is doing this for me and you and any other member.
