Goldcrest

I was so happy when I got this shot - totally in love with it - however, I'm not sure which of these is better - or in fact is there something much better that could be done that I haven't?

1) this was edited a bit afterwards, so it looked how I thought it should... but then, on reflection it looks kind of dark, and a bit... erm... blocky - can't explain myself properly - colours weren't right:

2) this was unedited, just converted from RAW to JPG straight away to me it doesn't look sharp - it looks like it's lost the quality the RAW file had in NX. Any advice appreciated!

and just for fun -

Re: Goldcrest

I would sharpen the images in your photoediting suite to compensate for the softness you get when reducing the image size. Also, i would resize myself and not let the photohost do it

Out of the 2 I prefer the second one

Re: Goldcrest

I do resize myself I use Irfanview... is that not so good?

thanks for the comments though! I think I prefer the 2nd one too.

Re: Goldcrest

Quote from AZZ post "Also, i would resize myself "unquote. Now thats a neat trick, so go down a bomb at the Christmas party.

Re: Goldcrest

lovely pictures. Goldcrests are such secretive birds and very flighty so you did well to capture them. Often the only indication you will get to alert their presence is the high pitched reedy song.
