Buhund

Went to LKA today to do some doggy xmas shopping (lucky dog had over £70 spent on her!) as it is held only 15 mins from me.
Took my camera to have a play around - the light in that place is bad at the best of times but with the awful weather it couldnt get much worse! Being still new to the whole DSLR thing not quite sure of settings etc, only took my 28 - 135mm Image Stablilisation lens as it did me ok at crufts o8.

Im fairly happy with this pic however. Flash wasnt used, has been cropped and one of the few pics with very little done in the photoshop department.
Never got a non-blurred dog on the move before at NEC so obviously did something right!

Also got this dalmation on the move...has had a bit more done in the photoshop department, but still happy with it

Anyone who has photographed dogs at the NEC before any tips?

Re: Buhund

You did GREAT!! That place is awful for pictures. Im hoping my f/2.8 Sigma will do better when I go in March, I do however have the 28-135 IS too, but like you say, higher ISO and cropping are factors, so the extra zoom I hope will be helpful.

Re: Buhund

Nope no good pictures from there it has the most awful lighting ever!! Well done. We have a Buhund that occasionally comes to our training club, the owner was shocked when I knew what breed he was.

Re: Buhund

Thanks for the comments

It wont help that I will be taking shots of dogs that are mainly black in colour again at Crufts next year May have to have a wonder over to the spanish ring to have a nosey - first year (along with Braccos) for you guys isn't it?

Was quite taken with the Buhund, not a breed I've come across before.

Re: Buhund

Yep it is our first year, they've given very weird classes to the Spanish, why they didn't give us all the same classifications I don't know! Will be taking Anton as my only other dog that I qualified this year was Lydia who passed away a month ago at 15, she was going to be a bit old to take anyway!!

I used my sigma 24-70mm f2.8 didn't use my flash as i was ringside ISO 1600 and my camera really struggled!! Can't wait for the 5D to arrive!! All mine came out yellowy and very grainy

and to top it all off... the judge wasn't picking malamutes and was picking his own breed although Bella (mina's sister in the picture above) got best puppy bitch but there were no bernese mountain dogs in their class to pick instead LOL But well done Bella well deserved Win young lady
