sure that isnt ft or mtrs ? that will set automatically if in auto mode switch on lens.

LOL wish i could tell you but dont know much myself ! found it quite confusing so i just uses the settings in the camera
will be watching this thread and hopefully i can work it out too

it starts at 1.8 and goes up in stages to 22

remember the higher f number the greater DOF

my just moves from 1.8 to 2.8 then i have to lock before i can take a pic.

but it wont move no further

Forget the lens numbers, the camera settings are the ones to think about . If "A" selected then the shutter sdpeed will automatically adjust to that " A " setting. Try around f8 is a good place to start, then by altering the fapature setting you will notice the shutter speed alters to match

Conversely if you set the camera to "S" shutter priority, then the apature will auto set to that shutter speed.
