Godwits

Just a couple of shots of some Godwits from a while back rather liked how they came out with the reflections etc.

1.

2.

(again, I apologise for the sharpness... I'm looking at these on my old laptop, and they look horribly soft here, but they looked nice and sharp on my other computer, so I have no idea how they look to other people!)

Re: Godwits

Hi Laura

Obviously no idea how they looked on your other computer.

To me they're kind of hazy & lacking a bit of contrast perhaps but I wouldn't say soft. The head on the first shot is certainly sharp.

Agree about the reflections & composition though.

Re: Godwits

It's hard to tell how they look at all on this screen. I might see if I can plug my monitor into this laptop tomorrow.

They probably are a bit hazy - I should really deal with that in PP... I'm terrible, as we have fairly hazy sunlight here all the time, and I never compensate enough for it, or I try to, think I have, then come back a few weeks later and hate the shot! XD

Re: Godwits

Really agree what you have both said, they both look hazy, though the reflections and the composition work well. They look like the could do with a bit of a boost, but it could be hazy light too.

Re: Godwits

I like shots of birds on/in the water when you get that symmetrical effect from their reflection.

May be a little play with the levels on shot 2, but both good captures.

Re: Godwits

Hi Zoundz, I have never heard of this bird! No surprise there, lol. They do look a little hazy as said above. Was it a misty day? Had the lens got wet and steamed up? CXould be anything. Nice composition, love the reflections

Re: Godwits

No nothing like that - the Bigma is dying a death, it's just in generally poor condition these days and the light was very hazy - it's been incredibly sunny here, and some days the visibility is horrible!

It doesn't help that I may have processed them to look like this, as my two monitors are vastly different, and they were processed on the other one.
