Re: some of my shoots

Further to Azz's comment I would either crop out the leaves on the left I find it a bit distracting. This would have moved the bale more to the left.

Bazza famous quick tips

A very quick test to see if a photo can be improved is to hold up an object (say a book) against the computer screen to blank out a part of a picture to see what a crop can achieve without actually doing the cropping. Try doing it vertically, blanking out the left hand side as far as the left hand tree in the distance .

Re: some of my shoots

An interesting set - you have an eye for a picture.

I'll just wade in to with my thoughts about number 1 too as everyone else has!!
I think that scene had great potential.
I think it would have worked better if the bale had been a bit futher up - a third of the way up would have been ideal (read the rule of thirds tutorial - its very useful!).
If you had crouched down to take the image I think the perspective would have been a little better allowing that bale futher up without loosing all the sky.

LOL! I didn't mean move the bale, I meant move yourself or crop differently so that the resulting image had the bale in a more visually pleasing position.
