Re: How would you sharpen this image?

Here's my effort, I know it says only to sharpen, but I fiddled with the colour a bit too probably shouldn't have with the dodgy screen I'm using atm!

I used Unsharp Mask, Neat Image and did a few bits to get the eyes looking right. It's amazing how hard it was to get into, as I'm so used to editing RAW now! I just hope P-Bucket hasn't softened it too much!

and a Gif of the two images together (will be poor quality sadly - but shows the difference in the eyes if nothing else):

Re: How would you sharpen this image?

Looking at the GIF, I would probably now go back and edit the colour back into the flag and the clothes he's wearing that was fun to do though!

Re: How would you sharpen this image?

I tried my methods but they failed dismally on a small jpeg.

Came back to the thread and on close examination noticed that most attempts at sharpening have exaggerated artefacts especially on the right (left as you look at the image) shoulder of the jacket.

I think a lot of selective sharpening would have to be carried out with this image to achieve a good result.

Now if we could have the raw

Re: How would you sharpen this image?

I always set the layer i am sharpening to luminosity. Also i only sharpen selectively, not the whole Image.

Re: How would you sharpen this image?

I would agree with Jonni in that I tend to (usually) only sharpen parts of pix and not the entire shot.
