Was off out to them there hills tomorrow but.........
.........here's the Scottish Mountain Weather Report
LOOKING AHEAD
Friday 1st February
(on the Munros)
How cold? Freezing level: Dropping to sea level. At 900m: Lowering to –9C but will feel cold or colder than -32C directly in wind.
How windy? Northwesterly 40-50mph gusts 70mph to locally 100mph. Will tend to ease slowly through the day
Sunshine and air clarity? Glimpses of sun only, mainly well
inland; very poor, or for periods near zero visibility in snow.
How wet? Snow showers; blizzards Clusters of heavy snow and hailshowers will continue to give blizzards and periods of whiteout; risk thunder and at
times blizzards and whiteout.
Think I'll comprimise - take the camera and see what's what at low levels.

A lot of people would be amazed at the fact that in Scotland you can have winter mountain conditions far colder and more unpredictable.
It's often a fair weather hillwalker is caught out because they under estimate quite what our hills can through up.
For eg.....Who on earth would even consider avalanche forecasts?

Avalanche Hazard Outlook Fri 01/02/2008
Heavy snow is expected during all Friday accompanied by very strong winds, North-Westerly veering to North. Further extensive deposits of unstable windslab will form in sheltered locations mainly above 800 metres. Temp at 900m to 1500m land -09C yet wind chill will feel like equal or less tha -34C.
The greatest hazard will be on steep slopes with North through East to South-East aspects where avalanches and cornice collapse will occur.The avalanche hazard will be V High (Category 4).

Yeah - its crazy in Scotland! I'd never live there cos it's so cold... Although I love Edinburgh!
