No, I prefer 2 as well, think it is more to do with the sort of tones that appeal to an individual for a particular image.

KK you're beautiful,
My fave has to be number 1, but thats a personal preference as I prefer b&w photography as a rule, but the 2nd photo is lovely too, the red isn't overpowering and creates the mood well.
