5 Shot HDR

Still testing I put together a 5 shot HDR with 1 F-Stop between each frame. Considering this was done at 6400 ISO I think it turn out great.

Re: 5 Shot HDR

Not bad at all Bob, like with the 5D Mk3 there is less noise at higher ISOs.

So many people, seeing my test shots, have been asking for high ISO performance photo examples. I've been using a D7000 since it was released and it's no slouch in that category. I still think the D800 is a notch above the D7000.

With this kind of performance at 6400 ISO and the ability to shoot a 5 F-Stop range of exposure the sky's the limit on creativity. The compact tripod I used folds up in its case the size of a pool cue case, easily fitting under the seat. It's a must for stable shots like this.

How did you expose it Bob, did you like do one of the sky exposure then one of the tree then one of the building and so on, Or were all 5 exposures the same?

On a tripod I set up a bracketed shot varying all 5 by 1 F-Stop. The normal exposure was in the middle shot -1,-2,0, +1,+2. This allows for a 5 F-Stop spread to capture every nook & cranny of the same shot.

Re: 5 Shot HDR

it is amazing at that iso its so clear, My 50d would make a great mosaic shot at high iso, Perhaps it will get to a stage where iso 4000 becomes the new iso100, Your very lucky to own this camera enjoy it.

I already have a decent high ISO camera with the D7000. After reading the reviews about the D800 surpassing that camera's high ISO's performance it placed the D800 on my wish list. I will be paying for the new camera over a period of a year.

I prefer available light photography over the use of flash. With the test results I just posted there's no reason to use a flash. I know how to bracket when I shoot as well as use exposure compensation when lighting conditions require me to do so. The D800 gives me a great deal of latitude in my creative photographic endeavors. I'm sure I will put it all to good use.
