New feeding station

A loca reserve has a new feeding station after the old one was vandalized. So i went to check it out as its in woodland and i was not sure how the light would work, it was very changeable but should improve as the canopy loses its leaves.

Quite large crops and a bit noisy, but im fairly pleased, was after a treecreeper which never came close.

These are good shots Brian and i do not think the image noise is that noticeable in 1 & 3. Image 2 stands out well, like that one a lot

Re: New feeding station

Looks like your patience has paid of Brian, the last shot of the great spotted woodpecker looks really sharp and detailed, with a wonderful soft background.

I like the light and the why it catches the eye of the Nuthatch shot too.

Re: New feeding station

Lovely! Not birds we get in Ireland! Well - the woodpecker is a very rare visitor - and the nuthatch not at all. Great shots of lovely birds, and really great bokeh in number 1 too!

Thanks, i think the noise is more noticeable at the large size but i did look to get something that made the birds stand out.

Re: New feeding station

Thank Cakey Ken and Zoundz, i did try to use the light in the Woodpecker shots, must admit i did not notice the dark background for the Nuthatch image.

Im surprised to hear you dont have Woodpecker and Nuthatch Laura, my knowledge of birds in Ireland is poor. As we get migrant woodpeckers at this time of year i would have thought they would easily cross over the sea to your kneck of the woods.

regards brian.

Re: New feeding station

Well - we get one or two - but they are really rather rare - and the nuthatch is non-existent. So is Tawny Owl and the Hawfinch was thought to be, but has been seen a few times in recent years. I'm sure there's another species that's absent, but I'm having a thick moment and can't remember!

xx

ETA - Willow Tit and Marsh Tit are also absent I believe. This is an interesting page
