You've altered the shutter speed without altering the aperture so as you get quicker - your shots get darker.
In 'Manual' mode - When you alter your shutter speed to go faster you should see in your viewfinder that the exposure indicator shows the pic will be darker. Adjust your aperture to make it bigger and the indicator should move back up.
If you shoot in 'Shutter Speed priority' the camera will select the aperture when you select the shutter speed to give you the correct exposure.

Think its time to dig out the camera manual - I have no idea what an aperture is or how to adjust it.
