Moonie - out of interest, where is the point of acuity (focus)? Did you edit the original to give it a soft look?

Re: Just a rose

Didn't actually think it was soft, it isn't on my monitor, it looks soft in the sense that a rose looks soft, has a softness to it

So, no haven't edited it to give it any "softness", only my fave 1x1 crop , that I love with flowers, and fiddled with the colours in lightroom till, I was happy.

Re: Just a rose

Doesn't look soft here - just looks like a shallow DoF

Re: Just a rose

That's a super image.

I like the colour and I like the composition.

You've got it sharp on that pointy petal but I wonder if the focus should have been on the middle of the flower or perhaps the dof a bit deeper so the middle and the pointy bit were sharp ???

That was a question rather than a suggestion as I would like to try and do more flower shots myself.

Re: Just a rose

Thank you

Yep, I think I should of got the focus more centred, and I think that was what Jack meant and I took it meaning OOF 'soft"

The problem is I love shallow DOF, and like to have some softness to a flower, guess it is a case of balancing the two but, I am happy with this one, been a while since I did any flowers.
