A monopod may be a better option?

Re: Track Day Lydden

Anyone can turn up to a track day, you are just sometime limited to where you can take the shots from... Lydden has no official photographer there. As long as you stick to the public areas you'll be fine, the pro's have access to the inside of the track so get THE BEST shots... but in most cases you can stand near them and still get good shots. Some of the shots i took were a bit far away... but luckily they were detailed enough that when i cropped them they came out really well.

Brands Hatch is a great track to take pictures at you can get onto the inside of Druids (the nice hairpin). But i like Lydden as there is less safety fence in the way, and you are a lot closer to the track... bit scary when standing at paddock bend and you have a bike heading towards the gravel trap infront of you when they miss judge the corner at 90 odd MPH!!
