Unknown Bug

I hope this works, I've tried adding it from my album

I don't know what kind of bug it was, but it looks like it has a mini chameleon head to me! I'd like to know what you think of the composition, general look, and how I can improve my macro shots.
Many thanks
Melanie

Re: Unknown Bug

No idea what it is but see what you mean by the chameleon head. Don't know what the experts would or will say by I like more 'land' in front of the subject rather than behind, but that may well be just the way I like things. Again no expert but it seems the point that is sharpest is to the rear of the creature and the stem just behind it, I may be wrong but I would like the front of the insect a tad crisper.

Edit to say had a look in my insect book but can't find it, think it is some sort of beetle but bugged if I know which one

Re: Unknown Bug

Hey folks the lady asked for C&C makes it look like I am picking hole, please join in or I will loose my nerve. I too thought she did well to get the shot, but did try to do the C & C as well.

Re: Unknown Bug

The lighing is beautiful on this shot, but the composition not so strong. The flower at the back is quite bright and takes away from the subject (a nit pick, but its bugging me ) - you could try changing the hue in photoshop?? Also as Snapper pointed out, try to avoid having "nothing" in front on the subject when its looking out of the frame - it creates an unbalanced shot and one more thing - thry not to shoot ith the stem going down - shoot the subject so it looks like its walking up

What do you mean by 'more land?' Yes, I agree the back is sharper, I'll see what I can do.

Thank you about the lighting, I'm going to mess with the hue and see what I can do. What do you mean by 'nothing'? I've turned the picture, does it look better this way? I feel it's more unbalanced, but I don't know, maybe it's just cos I actually had to bend the flower horizontal to get the shot.

Here's my edited version, I've tried to take on board comments - thanks for those - does this one look better? Let me know if I took it too far...I'm no expert on Adobe...

Re: Unknown Bug

Don't know what kind of bug it is, but I bet anyone would have a job giving it the kiss of life.

Re: Unknown Bug

As it was taken only 2.5" (6.3mm) from the lens and at 1/70sec. to get it that sharp blown up even using Photoshop7 is pretty good in my book.
