Hi Vikki maybe I'm not giving it justice at the moment as I don't get out much with camera at the moment, I use to use Sigma 70-300mm with my Sony A200 but the Sony has built in VR what I am finding with the Tamron is anything over 200 and it has to be on tripod where with Sony I could shoot handheld at 300. Guess I should give it a little longer and practice with it or spend a fortune on a lens with VR..

I like photoshop, can you tell? lol
Hi Crilly I have no idea what the orange spike thing is only noticed when increasing the levels. To be honest I rarely do anything other than lighten darken and maybe a little sharpness other than that I don't normally bother..

Probably right Laura not giving enough time at long range to be honest, been mainly using it around 55-80mm on some portraits and still practising at 200+ with Raynox lol...

Thanks Ken will do, think I'm just not giving it enough time and as I'm not getting out maybe getting a bit frustrated lol, in fairness it was late this afternoon and was getting dark so maybe it is me..

Re: Hetton Lake

Thanks to all for advice I think the problem is me and not the equipment as I have seen some lovely photos using exact equipment I use and conditions have been right. I will stick it out and will get out more.

Re: Hetton Lake

Have never used Tamron lenses, but its as Ken mentioned with Zoom lenses having strong/weak points, its just a matter of finding its sweet point. Quite a few lenses are supposed to perform better when not opened all the way up

Still not a bad image of the Tufted duck, you probably would get more detail out of the original image too so the chest, neck and head do not look just one shade of black, maybe using the highlights setting in PS.

Love the Swan image
