help! how to do watermark

had a new graphic tablet for xmas and trying out signitures (need alot of practice!)... so far i know how to write on new file > tranparent..... but what size ? coz i like to save this one signiture image so i can use it on any photos or i have to sign everyone of em *sigh* blooming hope not !!
