Oh sod it

I stayed up till 3am this morning scouring the web for a 5d, cheapest price I noted was £1455, just for the body (I need another lens like I need a hole in the head) I noticed that some dealers said the 5d was'nt compatible with es lenses so I made enquiries today, and it's true so if got a 5d I'd have to get new lenses as well.
Do you think this is a cunning plan on Canon's part to rake in more cash.
Seemingly it's because the 5d has full frame metering.
I did fancy the 12 megapixel, but there's no way i'm gonna shell out more cash for new lenses. so I've settled for the 40d,
Actually i'm impressed with the different functions on it, there's a dial on the back to scroll through the menu system, and the LCD sreen is much easier to read in strong sunlight, the 350d could be a pain when changing menu settings, (it was an under the jacket job so you could see the screen)

Anyways, will have to get some tips from DJ, It's all his fault. I'm so impressed with the pics he's posted since he got his.

PS: I tried every lens I already own on the new camera, they all work fine.
Tips please DJ, the battery's charged and ready to go.

This is quite well publicised - the ef-s lenses will only work on the 1.6 crop bodies. This is why I have put off buying any ef-s lenses thus far (though there is one I am sorely tempted by). I am thinking about upgrading to the 5D in future and so have always taken this into consideration when purchasing lenses.

The 5D and the 40D are worlds apart as far as function goes, but I think you have got yourself a great camera there (and a nice jump up from the 350D). Looking forward to seeing some of the images you produce

Re: Oh sod it

Here you go, it took nearly an hour to get the software in, and register.
So I swivelled the computer chair round and took these snaps of the dogs, poor sods are knackered.

Mea. on my bed.

Caesar, in his bed.

Nero, on the floor, where he should be.

It's only 2 megapixels more than the 350D, but I do notice a difference.

Re: Oh sod it

Nice camera Nero!

So there are three 40D owners now on Yo P now, you, DJ and Cymruchris.

I will have to get a Nikon 200d of 300d and give you lot a run for your money (ok I can dream!!)

Look forward to the pics Nero

Something I have noticed in some of your pics Nero is over-exposure/highlights blown - are you altering the levels in photoshop? What monitor do you have? Some panels/screens make adjusting levels harder. Do you have the untouched pics of the above you can post? The ones of Mea and Nero?

Re: Oh sod it

You're the creator of all these sites.... You don't have to spend thousands to make a good site - it's not what you've got - it's what you do with it that counts... (Why what were you thinking of?) Anyway back to the topic - another 40D user....
