Hdr

I've been getting more into photography over the last couple years so I'm still very much a newbie. I'd like to here your views on HDR pictures.

I like using HDR toning in CS5 on the right kind of picture. It can make a plain shot come to life. But I heard one or two people say it's not right, you should be able to use your camera and skill to take a good shot.

This was my first HDR attempt. It was done January this year. It was a cold, wet, miserable day. HRD in photoshop made the picture come to life. I wish I could find the original to show the difference.

So what do you guys think. Is HDR pictures good or bad for photography?

Re: Hdr

I like some HDR. I've seen it applied to an inside shot at a cathedral and it was stunning. As a general rule I totally dislike overcooked HDR that looks like it has been done because it could!

Everything has a place in photography when it is used on a subject for a reason, IMHO

Pretty good for a first attempt.

HDR is one of those topics that divides opinion and it's very much down to personal taste.

Some would argue that good HDR technique should result in nothing more than a 'perfectly' exposed photograph whilst others prefer the very processed HDR look.

I have soooo much to learn lol.

I like using it on the right kind of picture, and if the picture looks good to me at the end, I keep it.
