Portrait of Rebel the GSD
Taken on my FujiFilm Finepix p&s, I LOVE this dog, she has the best personality and is so well behaved, she's been an embassador to a toddler who was scared of dogs! I've taken several similar, only differering in angle and crop, please let me know which you think work best as I'm always trying to improve.

I like number four - I'm not a fan of cropped ears 
I think it always looks better with all of the dog in the shot. Number four looks alert and interested, which makes the ears look lovely and the eyes look even brighter. I like the first running one too - my only real criticism, is watch the backgrounds - four is lovely, but I find the change in background from floor to hedge rather distracting

yes it does thanks, i was thinking or cropping the first running one to get rid of the houses, but wanted to put the unaltered pics here first. i take your point about the cropped ears, again, these are as they were taken, maybe i should have been further away and got the whole ears in.

That said, a tight crop can work, but I would crop even tighter I'm a sucker for all or nothing

I'm not sure! to me the mid crop looks like it's unintentionally chopping the dogs ears off, whereas the tighter crop looks like it was intentionally closing in on the dogs face. I think that's why I prefer tigheter crops over midcrops anyway!

thanks, that does make sense, i guess it does look more intentional, like i didnt mean to chop off the ears, though with rebel, its sometimes hard to fit them in...they're on the large side!

I have no idea if mid crop is right! but it describes it well, so I thought I'd use it too!
She is a gorgeous dog, and yes, her ears are huge!
