Re: Three Golds and a Green, no, not snooker

It's the niger seed, finches love it, I have 4 feeders but only the one with niger.

It is an enormous crop and seeing it this morning I feel I really should decide on which programme for noise I should buy, nothing should be enlarged to this extent without the vale of noise reducing software

Hi Snapper

I have run your image through Neat Image noise reduction. The left side of the image has no noise reduction, whilst the right side has just a basic auto noise reduction applied in Neat Image. With some time spent on tweaking the settings in Neat Image it would give an even better result.

Hope you don't mind.

Re: Three Golds and a Green, no, not snooker

No of course not Steve, I tried Neat Image but it said the sample was not large enough, I have also given Noiseware a try and on balance think I prefer the Noiseware to the Neat Image. Anyway I must make my mind up and buy something as you don't always have the correct lens on the camera and, as in this case the image is worth a place in your family album but you have to crop and enlarge and that means you are enlarging the noise as well as the image.

Re: Three Golds and a Green, no, not snooker

Beautiful!!

I'll definitely have to get some Nyger seed then! I've seen them in my garden, but they tend to just turn their beaks up at my nut feeder and don't hang about for very long

Snapper, how does this work for you? It's enlarged 300% by Genuine Fractals then run through Noiseware and finally Photoshop Elements 7 Autosharpen.

Re: Three Golds and a Green, no, not snooker

You have me puzzled Bob, I had all ready enlarged it by I would think 700% although I have not checked that how did you re-enlarge without the original?

It has cleaned the noise up well but I feel it is now a bit too hard and it seems to have lost some clarity because although the original was enlarged it had retained the reasonable focus. Your version has become a bit 'ragged' and has signs of halo on some of the birds, would think this is because you have again enlarged that that was already enlarged, what do you think?
