Yes they should! The couple of camera shops over here are really decent, and the people who work in them really know their stuff - they're all pretty keen photographers themselves when I've spoken to them. I think there are so many people who are desparate for work, they should make sure that who they're employing is enthusiastic and takes an active interest in the work - in fairness, I'm sure they'd find plenty of people who are very interested, or who could be interested, without resorting to people who know nothing and who aren't interested in learning either.
