Re: What is your photographic ambition for the next few weeks?

Hillmouse

In Digital Camera magazine this month ( feb 2009 issue) there is an article on photographing birds in flight and the technique. I saw that was mentioned as one of your ambitions further back on this thread.

That is why I am surprised you did not get on with Lightroom it is ideal for those little tweaks that you need when sorting your shots straight from camera, sorting WB or exposure is a simple task and you can then either move to PS or save as finished work.

I agree with Snaps, Lightroom is great for a quick tweak of exposure which you are on about, it does it quickly, and with great results. I find Lightroom easy to use, and a great piece of software. TBH I would of thought it would of been brilliant for your wedding pics Jo.Sorting out big batches of shots.

Re: What is your photographic ambition for the next few weeks?

Ok,

Here are some examples of what I would like to do more of, some of you may have seen these before, can't remember what ones have ever been posted or not.

I liked this corner of a church, but wanted a bit more, so I 'acted' the role of a vagrant

This next shot was going to be a 'monster from the deep' kind of shot, and I had green hair red eyes etc, but I toned it down to this, more of a minor beach invasion

Next up is a simple Self Portrait, I say simple, but self portraits are not as easy as they look!

Lastly is my footie crowd shot, I have wanted to do this for years, and Portsmouth Football club kindly allowed me an hour or so in the ground one Friday afternoon so I could get all the shots I wanted. It's 12 different poses pasted over and over, took be bloody ages an all

Re: What is your photographic ambition for the next few weeks?

I feel i have achieved a good PP style and composition. For the weeks ahead I have something in the works at the moment in regards to a photoshoot for which i hope to apply alot of what i have done over the past year..

Walker, theres a much easier way of doing your football shot than pasting

I'm not sure what you would have done. What I did was to take 12 individual shots, in 12 seats (3x4 grid) and then take a photo of the empty stadium. In PS I extracted the 12 shots (so there was just me, no stadium, and transparent backgrounds) and put the 12 shots on different layers over the blank stadium. Then I copied those 12 layers 3 times, and shrunk them down to form the background crowd. It was the extracting that took the time (and taking the photos using the self timer, I only did 3 rows as row three was as far as I could run and strike a pose in 10 seconds lol).

When I did this image, it was the first time I had used Photoshop, so it was a mammoth task for a complete PS newbie

Re: What is your photographic ambition for the next few weeks?

You shouldnt need to extract. Put all your multiple exposures into layers and mask each one, deleting the area where you want to reveal the duplicate you underneath on the next layer.. I presume you were using a tripod, so each shot should have lined up perfectly to allow you to do that..
