Expodisc is brilliant!

I got an expodisc yesterday to correct white balance, i am very pleased to say it really works well, there is such a difference the pictures come out so much better then using the built in settings, i would really recommend this to anyone.
Take a look at the examples i took below and see the difference...

Kit 1
Canon 500D
Canon EF-S - 55 mm - 250 mm IS - f/4.0-5.6
Canon EF-S 18 mm - 55 mm - f/3.5-5.6
Canon EF 50mm - f/1.8II
Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 Macro
Tamron SP 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II

Re: Expodisc is brilliant!

That's a dramatic improvement with the product. I achieve the same effect using one of the hundreds of Photoshop CS5 filters supplied by OnOne Software's Picture Perfect Suite. It makes all the difference in the world. Job well done!

Re: Expodisc is brilliant!

Agreed, they are good if you need accurate white balance. Used mine at a wedding. A lot of difference comes from just taking your camera from 'auto' white balance to a preset, sunny, cloudy, artificial etc. The expodisc gets the wb even more accurate.

The expodisc is pretty expensive, there are cheaper alternatives, even including a white card or exposdisc copies.

Looks pretty good. Don't forget you can always manually set your white balance too.

Re: Expodisc is brilliant!

my camera doesn't have that option, it only has auto, sunny, shade etc and custom, besides the expodisc is quick and easy to use and i'm really happy with it.

Your custom white balance is where you would manually set your WB

Hiya.
Generally auto is good enough, because you can change it in photoshop if you use it. Do you shoot jpeg or RAW?

Re: Expodisc is brilliant!

I shoot mostly raw, i have had a good go at testing this and the difference between this and the in camera settings is so big i'm not gonna use in camera settings again, even in photoshop using camera raw with auto white balance it does not come anywhere near as good as with the expodisc so this is gonna be with me everywhere i take my camera as its a must for me.

Cool!

I've heard good things about it.

If it works for you, go for it!
