Re: I am in Lust with this camera

I totally understand your lust. This camera has everything, sex appeal and modern features. By sex appeal I mean the retro look, feel and controls. I recently bought my Leica V-LUX 20 for $700 with the same lust. I've always wanted a Leica and needed a good backup to my Nikon D7000. I'm more than happy with the camera, especially since I've discovered how to extend battery life dramatically.

I hope you decide to get your dream and post lots of photos on YOP.

Re: I am in Lust with this camera

Hmmm... as a street photography enthusiast I'd like to have a go with that camera but I don't think many people would get on with it. The fixed focal length (equivelant to 35mm I think on a 35mm film camera) would be very frustrating to most of us used to zooms or having several focal lengths available. I reckon with that camera you are paying a lot for small sales and fashionable retro style. I have never been a big fan of Fuji's over processing of jpgs either, so I would be wary of the results.

On the other hand having had quite a lot of fun with my Canon G11 and just wandering the streets with a noisy and bulky Nikon D700, I have been considering a 35mm film Leica such as an M6 (can't afford the proper M digital range!). The idea of a lovely quiet body, pin sharp lenses, lighter and a rangefinder viewfinder that sees outside the frame are very appealing. The Fuji goes some way to addressing this and it has been on my radar, but not at that price. It's already dropping...

Re: I am in Lust with this camera

I don't know the protocol of posting my friend's flicker link with this camera.

Can someone advise me?

We have folks posting such links all the time. As long as they're not commercial sites trying to sell us something.

Re: I am in Lust with this camera

I've seen photographer on other forums rave about that camera. Like the retro look.
