Lens Hire?

I just wanted to see if anybody on here has ever hired a lens, on line or from a local shop!
I've just placed an order with lenses for hire ltd for a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 it's cost me £56.00 for 7 days with insurance and P&P which I didn't think was bad at all! they also don't ask for any deposit!!!

Re: Lens Hire?

I must admit I have no experience in equipment rentals. Blackcloud and a few others may have some however. Maybe Moonstone or Daisychains or even Phil. I'm sorry if I'm leaving someone out.

Re: Lens Hire?

I've hired lenses, and bodies too D3 and a D3s. Be warned it give you serious equipment lust though, I have ended up buying all the lenses I have hired, 24-70 2.8, 50 1.4 G, and 85 1.8. Had nothing but good experiences, with the companies I have used. Great to do when you need a certain lens for something, and can't buy it, same applies for camera bodies.

It would be great if some of these hire companies sold new lenses too, then offered your rental money back against a purchase of the same lens that you hired.

Re: Lens Hire?

My 24- 70 I bought off the rental company, good price and I tried it before I bought it. Quite a lot do that, sometimes you just have to ask Have managed to send the expensive bodies back though, and not buy them

There's will power for you, I can't even go to a photography shop unless I know I'm going to buy something

Re: Lens Hire?

From discussions with others Lensforhire are competitive, fair and ensure you get a good copy of the lens. Hopefully you'll be impressed.
