RAW Problem

Ok, i have a problem, and its annoyed the crap out of me because i think i have permantately changed a photo.

Since working in RAW i have done all my edits in photoshop and used the mini bridge feature to view and open the pictures. Once in camera raw i edit the image, open it and save it as a PDF. If i open the raw file again then it will return to its original form without the edits applied.

Now i started using the big bridge program to view them properly and once i decide to edit a picture i like, i press enter and start the editing process in raw and save to PDF but my raw files are not returning to normal and have applied and kept there edits which means my recent royal python is still in black and white!

the WB is as shot but still remains black and white, i havent saved the raw file :S

i want to cry!

Re: RAW Problem

Was all the editing done in ACR?

The raw file will still be there, but there will be a xmp file saved also which has the edits saved to it. Delete this and file will open up as unedited version.

Out of interest why save as pdf?

Re: RAW Problem

If it helps, I convert to DNG and keep all NEF files as well, then edit the DNGs in my RAW software, then in photoshop Then I also have the NEFs as backup.

Re: RAW Problem

If it's an option, get Lightroom. Stores all edits done to the raw and can revert to any stage of the edit in the raw process.

Not a problem. In Bridge, once you edit a RAW file and save it, Photoshop creates two files, the pdf you mentioned and a xmp file that saves the settings you chose while editing the original RAW file. Look for the xmp file associated with your original RAW edit and delete it. Then, when you open that original NEF file it will revert to the default settings.
