Re: Lenses?

As for what Bazza said I always buy cheaper memory cards and have done for the past 10 years............[they are a lot cheaper now than they were 10 years ago]

I have never had an issue with any of them bought from asda/ebay/amazon etc etc.

But it is up to you of course and some people trust the expensive ones more.

Re: Lenses?

Jols
I learn't the hard way, when I purchased my Nikon D70s I stupidly purchased 2x 1 gig Jessops memory cards. Well I almost sent my camera back to Nikon as I thought there was a serious fault when the camera kept seriously hesitating for quite a time after firing off a few continuous shots. There is nothing worse than trying to capture the right moment and the camera fails to shoot purely because of a slow writing memory card.
This is from personal experience, not what I believe, it is what I know as FACT. This is why I suggested these cards to avoid this problem.

Re: Lenses?

This is true, but it doesn't affect most people who just do ordinary hobby photography... I always use cheapo cards, and again, have never had a problem. Yes there's a little wait after firing off a lot of shots at once, but not much!

Re: Lenses?

I only use Sandisk, and have had no problems, would hate to get something special ( I know, dream on) and then go to upload and the card is corrupt, plus if shooting off several shots there is no problem. I did buy a cheaper card when I had my Oly, and that lost half the pictures off a card, but so far no problems with Sandisk. I only ever buy 4GB cards, and change cards a lot when shooting all day, so if anything did go wrong, not everything is lost.

This is all personal preference though, and there is no right or wrong, we all do things differently

Re: Lenses?

I use a mixture of Lexar and Sandisk, mainly 8Gb but some 2's and 4's.

When memory was expensive I did buy and use some cheaper brands and never had a problem with them. Now that the differential between premium brands and the cheaper brands has decreased I opt for the premium now.

Re: Lenses?

As an added thought I do not use flash memory as a long term storage and download and format the disks every day I take pictures.

Re: Lenses?

We have one fast card and one normal card and the difference is quite noticeable when shooting bursts.
