Alan (scrubbed & brushed up)

On seeing my OH looking tidy (going out to lunch) I thought I would hold him up for a moment and try some formal portrait type shots. Realise I have a light problem and one or to other things I should have done but didn't. Would expect there are things that I am not aware of and would ask for help and advice on anything you think I could improve on. Will post in 3 batches as there are 5 image I would like you to assess for me, many thanks.

Re: Alan (scrubbed & brushed up)

Well done Snaps, these are great.
I personally prefer no 2 , you have caught the twinkle in his eye, in this one. I think the composition is better in two, as the top of his head is against the sky, but in the second you have a nice backdrop of the foilage.

Mr Snaps is a looker xx

Will tell him Suzi, he will be pleased, not bad for 78 is he, wearing better than I anyway.

Thank you for your comments concerning the background, once I had taken them, not before, I realised that I should have paid more attention to the background, so that will be taken on board.

Re: Alan (scrubbed & brushed up)

Youve captured some great portraits Snapper. I agree with all of the comments above. He looks like he is enjoying being snapped in the 2nd pic - and that counts for a lot as it endears the viewer. Try these in B&W too - it will place the emphasis on Mr Snaps, rather than on the colours in the photograph.

You are certainly improving by experimenting & seizing opportunities like these. Well done.
