Nik Software

Last night, I discovered Nik Software; they have five software programs that are plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop Elements 6&7, Adobe Photoshop 7 to CS4, Adobe Lightroom 2.3 upwards, Apple Aperture and Nikon Capture NX2. The five programs can be purchased separately or as a Complete Collection. The programs are:
  • Silver Efex Pro™ Provides professional photographers and photo enthusiasts alike with complete power and control to create professional quality black-and-white images in one convenient tool.
  • Viveza® The most powerful tool to selectively control color and light in photographic images without the need for complicated selections or layer masks.
  • Dfine® 2.0 Best-in-class noise reduction to improve the quality of virtually every photo. Features new U Point® technology
  • Sharpener Pro™ 3.0 The leading sharpening tool for professionals. Print ultra-sharp images on any output device. Also includes photo lab and display settings.
  • Color Efex Pro™ 3.0 52 photographic filters with over 250 effects for professional quality images. Now includes compatibility with Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture and Capture NX 2.
  • Color Efex Pro™ 3.0 for Capture NX 2 Digital photographic filters seamlessly integrated into the new Capture NX 2.

The photo below was shot in RAW using my 10-20mm Sigma lens; the first photo was converted to JPEG using CS4 with no other editing being done, the seconded was converted to JPEG using CS4 and then I used "Graduated Neutral Density" in the landscape section of Color Efex Pro™ 3.0 which gave the results in the second photo.

Re: Nik Software

I use all of those plug-ins - they are excellent and I can highly recommend them as huge work savers for PP work.

I'm glad you cleared something else up - I was under the impression they didnt work with CS4 - which is one reason I have not upgraded. Can you confirm you are using them with CS4 please?
