Re: What to buy with the SLR

Congratulations on your leap forward in equipment. I've mentioned before on similar threads that when you purchase filters buy the thinest one you can afford. Filters are lenses and add to the focal length of the lens on your camera. Should you add too much thickness it may result in vignetting which is a darkening of the corners of the frame. It's most annoying and takes time & a lot of editing with software to remove effectively. I place only one filter on a lens at a time to prevent this distortion. Best of luck on your purchase. I hope to see some of your new work with the DSLR.

Re: What to buy with the SLR

Canon 450D Is a DSLR not an SLR camera. If you should buy anything I would suggest a fast memory card such as Sandisk extreme 111 (4 gig). Anything slower might make the camera "stall " in continuous shooting mode. This is where the transfer of picture from camera to card can't keep up with the pictures taken in rapid succession. I would also think about a spare battery, nothing worse than running out of power at a crucial moment.

As for filters go for either skylight or UV, either will protect the lens, it is cheaper to replace a scratched filter than it is the lens

Thank you for your help Bazza Yes I know it is a DSLR I just forgot to put the "D"
A fast memory card will be helpful & a spare battery is a good idea as well...
