First studio shoot

Hi All,

This is my third week in practising portrait photo's and I had my first studio session last night with friends.

I have uploaded the results (after photoshoped) on youtube.

A couple of the black background shots came out too dark on one side, althoughI was lighting for that effect, it's darker than what I originally wanted. But looked ok in the LCD screen.

Have another session tonight with the whole family.

Cheers

Re: First studio shoot

Some really good shots in there Zak

See what you're saying about the light, but still a lot of keepers in there - both white and black background shots work well!

Re: First studio shoot

For your first shoot, they are not bad. Your lighting needs work though. The shadows are to harsh as a result of lack of diffusing the light enough and adding nothing for fill - also the background lighting is very uneven . Your black background shoots need a hair light to separate the subject from the background and again something for fill.

Overall a good go - You have an eye for good composition

Re: First studio shoot

Sam's given some good pointers - there are some nice shots there! Well done, not bad at all for your first try.

Re: First studio shoot

Thanks for the feedback guys. I did a family shoot the other night on the wight background. Realised I need another 2 strobes. I was shooting a strobe behind the white cloth background with a large reflector and a large softbox at the front. I could do with 2 strobes to light the background and another 2 softbox on the subject.

All to learn. Great fun though.
