Re: Rainy and Fog

Super atmospheric shots Melody. I think the top one shows an all too familiar weather condition unfortunatley - but still shows that you can have fun in the rain!

Great atmosphere to your misty shots. I do have to say I love the story the Railway signal image is telling me - I was straining to see a train coming out of the fog when all of a sudden the Station tannoy system crackled into action where a reedy muffled voice announced that "due to the thickening pea soup fog, all trains running from Little Hambleton to Paddington will be postponed".

great stuff.

Re: Rainy and Fog

I moved to the Pacific Northwest two years ago from the Southeast U.S.. I relocated because I needed a job. That 3,000 mile move changed my life for the better. I was warned about the constant rain in Oregon, my new home. I can't, because of my 13 years in the Southeast, call what Oregon has as rain. Here it pisses and spits a little moisture over a long stretch of time. It's great for all the plants but doesn't do much for photographic equipment. I've learned that you either deal with the drizzle or become a hermit for 8 months of the year. I choose to get out there, with my motorcycle, with my camera.

Your photos reminded me of this area. All I had to do this morning when I first looked at your work was to look out my front door, seeing deep fog and a light mist falling. That's life & I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. The air & water are clear and clean, something I can't say about other parts of the U.S..

I love your photos and the way you captured the mood of the time.

Re: Rainy and Fog

I like the first pic...not sure I would like the railway so close. Reminds me of the Clint Eastwood film where he goes to see the old guy who lives next to the railroad and everything is shaking...

Bob, love the small anecdotal pieces...great to hear a few lines about life and times in another country. Trying to interest my other half in moving elsewhere but it won't happen...hmm...

Re: Rainy and Fog

Great pictures. The rain on the window is great but I really do like the railway signal shot. I love the way the curve of the tracks just fade away.

Must echo Blackcloud's comments regarding Bob's replies - he always adds a wee story which is great to read.
