Araneus diadematus

I first saw this spider a couple of days ago, but when I went to get the camera they had disappeared. Found them again this evening but the light was falling rapidly so I only got a few shots.

Re: Araneus diadematus

We always call them Dettol spiders because they have a cross on their backs just like the one on the Dettol bottles

When I put my +10 Macro lens on, you can get to about a couple of inches from them, or there abouts, I always have to check I'm not going to actually touch them, come on K, you haven't lived untill you've got up close and personal to a spider with a macro lens

Re: Araneus diadematus

Noooooo - you have to get as close as possible!! I will admit to putting my zoom on after I had used the Macro, but that was only because the light was fading fast and it has IS. However I couldn't get far enough away from the subject to be able to focus (not even with manual focus - these spiders do have a habit of building their webs in awkward places ) so had to be content with the shots I achieved with the Macro
