Nikon scoops trio of top TIPA awards
Nikon has swept the boards at the prestigious Technical Image Press Association Awards(TIPA), winning top accolades for the new D3, D300 and 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lens.
It’s an amazing feat, and one which affirms Nikon’s commitment to providing the best imaging and optical technologies in the photography business, said Robert Cristina, Professional Products and NPS Manager at Nikon Europe.
The D3 was voted Europe’s Best DSLR Professional Camera 2008, with the judges hailing Nikon's first FX camera a ‘milestone’, saying: ‘Each pixel featured on the 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor has a larger size, and that means the low-light performance is truly incredible.’ They also praised its ‘rugged, magnesium-alloy chassis’ and fast 9fps burst rate.
The new D300 was named Best D-SLR Expert 2008. 'With its solid design, excellent handling and robust, weather-sealed build quality, the D300 offers professional quality at a reasonable price' said the judges, who praised its ‘exceptional features’, including the 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor for its ‘stunning results’.
Completing the hat trick is Nikon’s AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED, voted Europe’s Best Professional Lens 2008. 'This ultra-wide-angle zoom offers an extensive array of shooting opportunities for professionals and photo enthusiasts looking for superb optical quality' commented the judges.
