Nikon Announces D60

Nikon D60

Lightweight, compact and incredibly easy to use, Nikon’s new D60 DSLR is brimming with advanced technologies to help you take superb shots straight out of the box.

Inheriting its sleek body from the award-winning D40 series, the D60 fits into your hand comfortably and naturally. From the large, bright 2.5 inch LCD screen for reviewing your shots or accessing the menu, to the ultra-fast, quiet and precise autofocus system, every feature is designed to make creating quality images easier than ever before.

With 10.2 megapixel resolution, Nikon’s exclusive EXPEED digital image processing engine, 3D Matrix Metering II and eight Digital Vari-Program modes this camera will deliver superb exposures, more accurate colours and exquisite detail. And if you want to make changes to your shot in-camera, just use the extensive Retouch menu for stunning effects and enhancements on the go.

The D60’s standard kit includes an AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G NIKKOR zoom lens with built-in Vibration Reduction technology to reduce the risk of camera shake and blur, so you can use shutter speeds up to three times slower than with a non-VR lens.

  • Compact, comfortable body design
  • Simple, user-friendly operation
  • Active D-Lighting
  • Retouch menu
  • Integrated dust-reduction system

I think so.

D60 as with the D40, I'd probably not upgrade to from D50. Would still be looking at D80 or D200

I'd be more than happy with the D80 but when I look at the prices I do think it might be worth the extra for the more robust build of the 200 as I do tend to get out and about in the hills.

Sometimes I get a rush of blood and think I'll just go and buy it - then I get all sensible and feel I can't really justify it.
