A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

Do not seem to be photographing much else at the moment. Thought i would share a few images though, a couple from Saturday taken up at the River Colne in Rickmansworth and some from home today.
Images taken today have been cropped and tried to compose images better, a lot of previous images the target has been central to the image and the image has been messy with things being kept in the image that need`nt be there, still struggling to get composition correct when taking images of birds up in the trees.

2 from Saturday -

Canada Goose -

Green Ring Necked Parakeet - My 1st sightings of these, seen 2 flying together, thankfully they landed for a little while, not good images though, this was the best of a bad bunch........

The rest from the garden today.

Blue Tit -

Dove -

Fieldfare - Sure these are following me around, never seen a Fieldfare before 2 Saturdays ago, seen a small group on Saturday just gone, and then caught sight of this one up one of the neighbours trees. Still too far to get a decent photo of him though.

Robin -

And just to break up the images - A Grey Squirrel

If anybody thinks some of the images are badly composed please let me know, composition is something i really want to work on this year.

Thanks for looking

*****I have a feeling that the bird i thought was a Fieldfare is not a Fieldfare at all and maybe in fact a Dunnock. Can anybody confirm this??*****

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

Your Fieldfare is a Redwing Robin is nicely composed, and your Canada goose is moving out of the frame, it would be tter with more space to the right. A nice varied set, and ive yet to see the Parakeet up here

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

Well thank you Brian, now i did not expect it to be named as a Redwing. I struggle to tell the difference between quite a few of these species with these markings. Most Thrush species are very similar.

I agree with you for the Canada Goose, it was moving off quite fast down river so framing went to pot.

Maybe one day Parakeets will be more widespread through out the UK Brian. Just the South and South East where they are thriving well at the moment

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

Thanks Owen .....
Apparently the parakeets were brought over in the 70`s to the South of England, now there are approx 5000 breeding pairs. I was shocked when i 1st heard about the parakeets in the UK thinking that we did not have climate for them to live well in the wild, but how wrong i was

Re: A few more feathery Friends & a Squirrel

It would be nice over here Mary if we had more Red Squirrels though, a lot of areas they are non existent due to the amount of grey squirrels there are, i have never seen a red squirrel in the wild.
