I have tried many times to upload HD to youTube but cannot say that I have been that successful. I am thinking of upgrading my Smugmug account so I can upload HD there.
You are not alone Littleme with having difficulties with HD from Canon cameras as I have seen many discussions on other forum about this. Must admit some of the solutions suggested are way above my head when they talk about inatalling different Codecs etc.

Ps. I load my avchd files into Sony Vegas and edit them and then save as MP4.

Search for 'mega codec pack'. I usually install that on my computers and it seems to have VLC player and codecs for most stuff.
