Re: Have you got paid for your work?

Nothing like making the tax man happy with all your hard earned money

Re: Have you got paid for your work?

Oh we just love paying income tax-vat- national insurance-third party insurance with another 5/6 insurances that go with the business- wages- electricity-gas-water-rates (business and residentual) - licence -advertising - accountants - phone company and so forth and so on.

Gives us the great pleasure in earning for the benefit of the above.

Re: Have you got paid for your work?

I call it MDS - Modern Day Slavery!

Just think, back in the 'slave' days, the slaves were given food and shelter and clothing, these days:

You Pay VAT on products 17.5%
You Pay income tax - another 20 or so %?
Duty on things like fuel, booze etc
So that's around half your money gone (so technically half a slave?)

Then you pay your mortgage
Then you buy your food
Then you buy your clothes.

How much have things really changed!?

Although I should add, I don't mind contributing - but only if they actually do good with it. Far too much is wasted, and on the wrong things.

Re: Have you got paid for your work?

I do a lot for fun but also make a lot from my photography, getting busier by the week which is great. I still have a lot to learn, but know enough to be confident to do what i do, i have 2 weddings confirmed this year and one possible, just waiting for confirmation.

I sell a lot of my rally pictures mainly, but have done a few photography sessions for clients. Since i stopped relying on photoshop and spent more time getting to know the camera my photography has improved. Although i still like to have a play on occasion to produce something different, but my shoots are very much un-altered now.

Got looooaaads to do over the next couple of months!!

I am the same - I have been asked to do a few weddings now but I have always declined. I enjoy photography however I do not want the pressure of having to perform on the day (not yet anyway ). I am tempted to do a couple as a second photographer (for free) to get the skills though.

To be fair Azz, I know several hobby photographers who are (IMO) better than some professionals. With DSLR's being so common nowadays you see so called 'professionals' springing up left, right and centre

Re: Have you got paid for your work?

A professional is someone who gets paid for their work, be it a one off payment by winning a competition or private commission. A hobbiest/amateur does it for nothing.
